Lindsay Lohan To Plead No Contest To Jewelry Theft
Author: admin
(NewsCore) – LOS ANGELES — Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan was set to plead no contest to her recent misdemeanor theft charge, TMZ reported Saturday.
Lohan was sentenced in a Los Angeles court this month to 120 days in jail and ordered to serve 480 hours of community service as a result of a probation violation related to the theft of a necklace from a jewelry store.
She was ordered to undertake 360 hours of work at a homeless shelter and 120 hours of janitorial work at the Los Angeles County morgue.
The actress was released on bail and left planning an appeal against her sentence.
But TMZ quoted “sources connected with the case” as saying she and her lawyer, Shawn Holley, were ready to return to court as early as next week.
The sources said the pair hoped Judge Stephanie Sautner would not raise her sentence upon hearing the plea.

PROVIDENCE –
The Copacetic Jewelry store in Providence was robbed for the second time in two months at about midnight Friday night into Saturday morning. The robbery went straight for the gold.
“We looked over and saw he went to the one case that I still have gold in, that I hadn’t put in the safe and wiped out that case,” said owner Donald Beohner.
Thousands of dollars worth of gold was stolen. With the high price of gold, the precious metal is a hot commodity for thieves.
The suspect knew to get in and out of the building in the time between when the door was smashed and the alarm sounded, a total of about 40 seconds.
“He went directly to it and he knew what he was doing. He had his back to the camera, he didn’t know about one of the cameras so we’ll see about that, but he went over to the case and took what he wanted,” said Beohner.
This is not the first time Copacetic has been robbed recently. The store was vandalized just before Valentine’s Day when the robber smashed through the front window.
Beohner has surveillance photos of that incident but it wasn’t the first time his store had been hit.
“2006 when I was in the arcade I lost everything. I came in on a Monday morning and everything was gone so I took my life savings and made the store happen again,” he said.
It’s a store that’s been rebuilt, only to have setbacks like this.
“It’s sad, I put my day-to-day work into this story. To have it treated that way is really sad.”
Not just a store but a small business that supports local designers, contributes to the economy and has been one man’s way of life for over a quarter of a century now.
Armed robbers strike Tulsa jewelry store

TULSA – Several armed men staged a daylight smash and grab daylight robbery at a south Tulsa jewelry store late Friday morning.
It happened right at 11:30 a.m. at the Moody’s Jewelry near E. 71st St. and S. Lewis Ave.
Early reports indicate that three men entered the store brandishing weapons. They smashed display cases and stole merchandise.
It’s believed the same men may have staged a carjacking shortly after the robbery at a nearby Arby’s Restaurant.
Police reportedly found the car, empty of occupants and still running, in a neighborhood just northwest of E. 81st St. and S. Yale Ave.
No one was hurt in the robbery.

A UConn professor has been arrested for what his attorney is calling a joke, albeit a bad one.
Alexandru Dragos Asandei, 43, of Vernon, went into Lux Bond Green at Evergreen Walk with his wife on Thursday to have her ring appraised and browse in the store. As he spoke with a clerk, he said he was there “to rob the store,” according to South Windsor Police.
Asandei, an associate professor of chemistry at UConn, meant it as a joke and there was no unusual reaction to the statement, his attorney said. So, Asandei was shocked when police tracked him down inside Barnes and Noble at Buckland Hills Mall at 7:30 p.m. and arrested him on a breach of peace charge and held him over night.
The district attorney acknowledged in court that this was just a bad joke.
Asandei is “profoundly remorseful if his comment caused any alarm,” his attorney said.

The state asked that Asandei be released on promise to appear in court on June 3 because he has no criminal record and he’s a college professor. However, he must stay away from Evergreen Walk.
The arrest happened just before UConn students began finals, which start next week.
Asandei complained about jail conditions and said people are way too sensitive these days. He feels everyone overreacted.
After the court appearance, an attorney said the only reason Asandei’s case wasn’t thrown out on Friday was because prosecutors wanted to review surveillance tape as a formality.
Asandei was charged with second-degree breach of peace and was held on a $50,000 surety bond.
The bride’s sister, Pippa, also wore a white dress by Sarah Burton and similar earrings also by Robinson Pelham.
